1. Service Description

Kanigo is a Japanese learning assistance tool that provides the following services:

• Japanese sentence analysis (including furigana notation, grammar analysis, and translation)
• Japanese word lookup (including definitions, example sentences, and conjugations)
• Text-to-speech functionality

2. Free Service, Purchased Credits & Usage Limits

Sentence Analysis: We provide each registered user with a fixed monthly free quota. The quota resets automatically at the beginning of each month.

Purchased Credits: You may buy additional credits through our payment provider (Stripe). Purchased credits do not expire and are consumed after your monthly free credits are used.

No Refunds: All credit purchases are final and non-refundable, except where refunds are required by applicable law. We do not provide refunds, partial refunds, chargebacks, or credit reversals for purchased credits, including when:

• Credits have been partially or fully consumed
• You no longer wish to use the service
• You are dissatisfied with AI-generated results or service quality
• Your account is suspended or terminated for violation of these terms

If you believe a charge was made in error (for example, a duplicate payment for the same order), contact us at [email protected] within 14 days of the charge with your account email and payment details.

Word Lookup: Currently completely free with no usage limits.

We reserve the right to adjust service scope, features, pricing, and usage limits in the future, and will notify users in advance where reasonably practicable.

3. User Data & Dictionary Building

To continuously improve our service quality, when you use the word lookup feature:

• We collect the words you query and their analysis results
• This data is used to build and improve our dictionary system
• The optimized dictionary continues to serve all users
• We do not collect or share your personal information

By using our service, you agree to our collection and use of this data as described above.

4. User Conduct

When using Kanigo, you agree to:

• Not abuse the service or exceed reasonable usage
• Not attempt to circumvent usage restrictions through technical means
• Not use the service for any illegal or improper purposes
• Not interfere with or disrupt the normal operation of the service

Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account.

4.1 Prohibited Uses of AI-Generated Content

You are strictly prohibited from using Kanigo's text-to-speech (TTS) or any AI-generated content for:

• Impersonation or fraud: Impersonating any person, entity, or organization without explicit authorization
• Deceptive practices: Creating content intended to deceive, defraud, or mislead others
• Harassment or defamation: Using generated content to harass, threaten, or defame individuals
• Political manipulation: Creating deepfake or synthetic media for political purposes
• Commercial misuse: Using generated content to impersonate public figures, celebrities, or brand representatives for commercial gain
• Violation of rights: Infringing upon any person's right of publicity, privacy, or other legal rights
• Illegal activities: Any use that violates applicable laws or regulations in your jurisdiction

Account Suspension: We reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate your account if we detect or receive reports of prohibited use. We may also report illegal activities to relevant authorities.

5. AI-Generated Content & User Responsibility

5.1 User Liability for Generated Content

You are solely responsible for all content generated using Kanigo's services, including but not limited to:

• Text-to-speech audio generated through our TTS functionality
• AI-generated analysis results and translations
• Any content created, modified, or distributed using our services

You acknowledge and agree that:

• You bear full legal responsibility for any content you generate, distribute, or use
• You will not use generated content in any manner that violates applicable laws, including but not limited to laws regarding impersonation, fraud, defamation, harassment, or privacy rights
• You will indemnify and hold harmless Kanigo, its developers, and service providers from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your use of generated content
• You will not use generated content to impersonate any person, entity, or organization without explicit authorization

5.2 Platform Limitations & Disclaimers

Kanigo provides technical services only. We do not:

• Guarantee that all users will comply with these terms or applicable laws
• Assume responsibility for third-party misuse of our services
• Warrant that our content moderation systems will detect all prohibited uses

Our liability is limited to the extent that we have implemented industry-standard safeguards, including:

• Content moderation mechanisms to prevent misuse
• Terms of service that clearly prohibit illegal and harmful uses
• Account suspension mechanisms for violations

We are not liable for:

• Any damages resulting from your misuse of generated content
• Any legal consequences arising from your violation of these terms or applicable laws
• Any third-party claims related to content you generate using our services

5.3 Content Moderation & Enforcement

We implement reasonable content moderation measures to prevent misuse. However, you acknowledge that:

• Automated moderation systems may not detect all violations
• We rely on user reports and manual review to identify prohibited uses
• We reserve the right to review, suspend, or remove any content or account at our discretion
• We may cooperate with law enforcement authorities in cases of illegal activity

6. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and services of Kanigo (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software) are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or otherwise use this content without explicit authorization.

7. Disclaimer

Translation and analysis results provided by Kanigo are for reference only. While we strive for accuracy, we are not responsible for:

• Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content
• Service interruptions, delays, or data loss
• Any losses resulting from use or inability to use the service

8. Service Changes & Termination

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate part or all of the service at any time without notice. We may also terminate your account access for violation of these terms.
